Policy,planning and risk reduction Directorate plays a role in the Ministry’s responsibilities through the following activities:
- Coordinating the Ministry’s planning processes.
- Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of planned activities within departments and the Ministry’s overall planning.
- Ensuring that reports on completed activities are submitted on time.
- Ensuring that the Ministry’s data is collected comprehensively, analyzed, and properly managed.
- Ensuring that national policies, laws, strategies, and plans related to the Ministry’s mandate are developed and updated.
- Ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Policy.
- Establishing mechanisms for collaboration and partnership with various stakeholders in disaster risk reduction and management.
- Implementing the operations of disaster management committees.
- Promoting community-based disaster risk reduction activities.
- Promoting initiatives to engage and involve communities in activities.
- Enhancing awareness-raising and capacity building.
- Increasing resilience to disasters and promoting response strategies.
- Participating in national planning to ensure disaster risk reduction is integrated into sectoral and budget planning.
- Monitoring and supervising compliance with laws and regulations related to disaster risk reduction across sectors.
- Disseminating, monitoring, and scaling up the implementation of disaster prevention and mitigation strategies.
- Initiating and participating in project planning related to Policy, Planning, and Risk Reduction.
- Ensuring that the country reports achievements in disaster risk reduction and management in accordance with regional, continental, and global frameworks.
